STaR

We know the circumstances that cause and maintain addiction and homelessness are multi-faceted and to address these holistically and effectively requires multiple specialisms. STaR is a partnership project by design, bringing together substance misuse, physical health, social inclusion, housing, and psychiatry expertise to address these complex challenges. STaR’s One Team model includes a project co-ordinator, team leader, six specialist enablement workers (SEW), psychologist, GP, data analyst and administrators. The whole team uses a MEAM, trauma informed approach.

We are delighted to announce that the STaR project is now up and running and the SEW are providing support to individuals experiencing complex circumstances. Kevin Ellis is STaR Team Leader (kevin@bthechange.org.uk).

See Links and Documents for an overview of the project aims.

Please feel free to email Kevin with any questions you have about the project.

Project Information

The Exeter STaR project has been awarded funding by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) to establish a One Team approach, providing enhanced wrap around support and recovery interventions to people experiencing rough sleeping or living in supported accommodation, who are going through substance misuse challenges. The project will increase engagement by testing different ways of working with people that have experienced difficulties engaging with traditional models of care. STaR will provide a comprehensive range of interventions where the client is placed at the centre, we will take support to the person and help individuals to engage with a range of specialist interventions.
